Dan Anderson

Founding Partner

Dan is a founding Partner of Anderson Porter Design, with over 25 years of experience, and focuses on Sustainable Housing. He is a Lean practitioner and brings to every project a strong focus on client value combined with a commitment to implementing purposeful buildings, places, and products.

Dan also has professional design experience with energy-efficient and sustainable design projects, including Energy Star certified projects and LEED for Homes certified projects. Dan is a PHIUS-trained Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC).

Dario Boyce

Project Manager + Designer

“To whom much is given, much is expected.”

Dario has a unique view of the design process and enjoys problem-solving and critical thinking which he applies to the design phases of architecture. Growing up on an island rich with history and architecture and having done programs in Spain and Turkey, he has been exposed to the variety that architecture has to offer. From a child, he has been fascinated with preservation and conservation and as a result decided to study architecture.

Outside the office, you can find Dario either baking, cooking, or singing in a choir in the city. Dario draws inspiration from architects David Chipperfield, Louis Kahn, Tadao Ando and artist James Turrell.

Aidan Syms

Assistant Project Manager

Aidan Syms is an Assistant Project Manager at Anderson Porter Design. In this capacity, he assists project managers with technical and managerial tasks in all phases of project development. Aidan’s graduate work at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design focused on biophilic design for meta-industrial space. His previous work focused on mobile retail for local and international clients, as well as unique residential design-build projects. His interest in controlled environment agriculture directed him into the cannabis space, where he hopes to bring new levels of biophilic design to the table. 

His passion for biophilia stems from a childhood imbibed by nature in the woods of Vermont and the rocky shores of Maine. Aidan loves to design furniture as a creative outlet and is most content covered in sawdust, hands deep in his garden, or out on the water flyrod in hand.

Brian Anderson

Founding Partner

Brian Anderson, Founding Partner of Anderson Porter Design, is an expert in cannabis architecture with over 10 years of experience designing over 45 cultivation facilities and approximately 35 retail stores across 23 states. His Harvard and RISD education in the craft tradition of making and designing objects combined with an analytic data-driven process has allowed him to provide customized solutions that drive value along the cannabis supply chain. Brian prioritizes sustainability and best practices, actively educating his clients on how to integrate these principles into their design and innovation processes. 

  

With a deep understanding of industry regulations and best practices, Brian ensures his clients operate safely and in compliance with applicable regulations. By developing customized solutions that promote sustainability and responsible environmental practices, his clients are well-positioned for success in the rapidly-evolving cannabis industry. Brian volunteers with esteemed organizations such as SCC, RII, NCIA, ASTM, and NFPA, providing peer review for USDA-sponsored CEH best practice guides, and supporting the ASTM International’s D37.09 sub-committee for cannabis facility sustainability. 

  

Brian's expertise and guidance help his clients pioneer innovative and sustainable solutions that create a more environmentally responsible future for the cannabis industry. He is a sought-after speaker at national conferences, webinars, and panels, addressing topics such as sustainability, efficiency, and best practices in cannabis facility design. Currently, Brian is working with clients in various stages of the state approval process in multiple states, including MA, NJ, CO, OR, AR, OH, OK, MO, MI, MS, VA, WV, PA, UT, AL, and FL, earning him a reputation as a trusted leader in the cannabis architecture industry.

Danny Stevens

Project Manager

Danny is a Project Manager at Anderson Porter Design. From his studies and professional experience, he is an advocate for adaptive reuse and multi-family housing, as both present unique design challenges in how we grow and sustain culture in urban areas.

Danny is a proponent of mixed-media representation and draws inspiration from the works of Atelier Bow-Wow, Mies van der Rohe, and Rem Koolhaas.

Outside of work, he enjoys free sketching, tending to his many plants, and renovating his home.

Liam Bargerhuff

Designer

Liam is a Designer at Anderson Porter Design. As a designer, he assists senior architects in various phases of the design process, from conceptualization to drafting and modeling. This is Liam’s first professional employment following the completion of his B.Arch and he looks to furthering his architectural experience with APD.

Liam is passionate about intertwining nature and architecture to provide a logical compromise to sustainable design and urban harmony. He advocates for the integration of lush gardens, vertical greenery, and various sustainable materials as he believes in the restorative power of nature within our built environments and in the integral contributions of nature in our overall well-being. In addition, Liam is interested in embracing traditional material and forms to create an urban landscape that seamlessly coexists with nature, fostering sustainable, aesthetically pleasing, and socially enriching spaces for generations to come.

Brittany Jacobs

Office Manager

Brittany is the Office Manager at Anderson Porter Design. With a degree in psychology, she helps handle human resources as well as accounting for the firm. Brittany has a lifelong passion for graphic design and an appreciation for creativity in the world around us. As someone with previous management experience, she helps keep the office running smoothly. Her adept organizational skills and keen attention to detail contribute to the efficient functioning of day-to-day activities, allowing our design team to focus wholeheartedly on delivering exceptional architectural designs. 

Outside of the office, she enjoys exploring museums, planning weddings and spending time with her friends and animals.

William Porter

Founding Partner

William is a founding Partner of Anderson Porter Design and has over 60 years of experience in Planning and Architecture. His vision of architectural services includes engagement of the significant stakeholders and design team members through collaboration, commitment, and coordination. This results in high-performance buildings, high value for the client, and minimized time of delivery.

Bill was fortunate to have worked for Louis I. Kahn. He was a member of the design team for Ciudad Guayana, a new industrial city in Venezuela, and was an active consultant in the development of Boston, including Rowes and Fosters Wharf, Leventhal Park, and other projects.

As former Dean of the MIT School of Architecture and Planning, he introduced reforms to make architectural education in architecture and planning more humanistically responsive. As a professor, he taught programming and problem setting, urban and architectural design studios; and the use of computation in design.

Sarah Woodward

Project Manager

Sarah is a Project Manager at Anderson Porter Design. Originally from a small town in Upstate New York, she moved to Boston to continue her academic path. Over the past four years, she has learned and excelled in various parts of design collaboration from lighting design, interior design, to architectural drafting and construction. She recently completed her studies at Boston Architectural College and is now starting the process of working through her ARE exams to become a licensed architect.

Outside the office, Sarah enjoys being by the ocean and traveling to new places whenever possible.

Zoë Anderson

Operations Manager

Zoë is the Operations Manager at Anderson Porter Design. She is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design with degrees in architecture and fine art. With her degree and background in architecture and real estate, she has insight into the complexity of the architecture industry. She utilizes her many years of experience and positive attitude to make sure the firm functions productively. Zoë is in charge of administrative tasks for the firm including human resources and accounting. 

In addition to her role at Anderson Porter Design Zoë is a printmaker with the Mixit Print Studio. She creates etched copper plates and abstract monotypes resulting in visual spaces that are fantastic alternatives to buildings she has designed or imagined. When she is not in the office or studio you can find Zoë gardening (ie ‘playing in the dirt’) with Dan or walking their dog Hugo.
